OUR PROMISE:
Pure Joy Agility LLC will provide you with premier training to meet your agility goals through positive promotion of your and your dog’s skills. You will always be encouraged to be the best you can be.
Our goal is to make you and your dog the best you can be! We offer a variety of classes to meet your agility needs.
As a Competing and Training Club, Pure Joy Agility offers 4 foundation classes: Agility Fundamentals, Sequencing, Contacts and Jump, Jump Weave. Competitors who wish to continue, move into COMPS (Competition) practices/classes. Below is a description of the various classes. Private Lessons are also available. Additionally, specialty workshops, classes, online events and seminars are offered throughout the year. All are taught by Heather M. Cline, Owner, Founder and Trainer at Pure Joy Agility LLC.
FOUNDATION CLASSES
FUNdamentals
This 6-week class will work toward building a solid agility foundation for both you and your dog. Emphasis will be on basic clicker skills, dog motivation, handler and dog foot work, as well as an introduction to skills needed to perform basic agility equipment, such as tunnels, hoops and barrels. You will learn a variety of fun, interactive games that will help strengthen the handler/dog relationship Dogs 12 weeks and older will be accepted as there will be no high-impact skills taught during this beginner class.
Sequencing
This 6-week class will focus on dog and handler paths, sequencing, handling, directional cues and handler crosses. You and your dog will learn how to work through a series of obstacles from all directions and sides. Dogs 12 weeks and older will be accepted as there will be no high-impact skills taught during this beginner class.
Contacts and Weaves
This 6-week class will focus on contacts (Teeter, Pause Table, A-Frame, Dog Walk) and an introduction to jumps. Fundamental drills will focus on teaching your dog rock solid contacts. Jump form, gait and pacing will be taught utilizing a variety of drills.
Strategic Start Line Stays
This class will show you how to train a reliable start line stay. We will discuss the individual elements and strategic use of start line stays, as well as proofing your team’s start line stay. Whether this is a new skill, refresher, fine tuning or you are looking to build distance, this is the perfect mini course for you.
Jump Grids
This class is designed to improve your dog’s jumping form, consistency, and strength. Focus will be placed on your dog’s jump form, gait, and optimizing jump turns and lead foot changes.
Spotlight Agility™
This fun, unique and innovative 4-class mini series will shine a spotlight on your agility handling. The focus will be on handling an efficient dog path and fine-tuning your handling skills. The first 3 classes are humans only and we will add our canine teammates for our last class. Prerequisites are Agility Fundamentals and Sequencing or similar training with instructor permission. ADVANCED CLASSES
Cuecabulary™
This class reviews all verbal cues, adds advanced verbal cues, advanced handling skills, such as pre-cueing, and takes an in-depth evaluation of your agility cues, timing and handling. This class is a must for anyone trialing!
Consistent Contacts
This class is for dogs who have Contacts experience but are struggling with consistency. Skills we will cover are contact approaches, discriminations, and consistently hitting the contact zone in flow. This class will utilize the Teeter, AFrame, Dog Walk and PauseTable.
Advanced Contacts and Weaves Games
This class series will focus on advanced weaving and contacts skills. For weaves, we will work on weaves commitment, confidence, speed, entrances, exits, improved foot work and strategic exits. For contacts, we will work on handling, not managing, contacts, independence, consistency, confidence and how to strategically use contacts to your advantage in running courses.
Advanced Spotlight Agility™
This fun, unique and innovative 4-class mini series will shine a spotlight on your agility handling. The focus will be on handling an efficient dog path and fine-tuning your handling skills. The first 3 classes are humans only and we will add our canine teammates for our last class. Prerequisites are Agility Fundamentals, Sequencing Spotlight Agility Beginner, or similar training with instructor permission. SPECIALTY CLASSES
Specialty Classes are offered throughout the year with special emphasis on agility skills, such as focus, drive, distance, tightening handling and footwork, dog path, handling path; etc. If you are struggling with a particular issue, chances are others are too! Let’s work it out together.
Platinum Paws™
Platinum Paws® is for specially designed for dogs 7 years and older. This series consists of four (4) 1-hours classes. Each class will present a fitness exercise, an agility skill, a scent work game and a trick. Let’s celebrate our seasoned dogs!
Fun & Focus™
FUN & FOCUS™ concentrates on building confidence and focus for you and your dog through fun games and drills. If you have an agility dog who becomes overexcited, disconnects, runs zoomies, sniffs, can’t hear you, picks up objects, visits ring crew, or shuts down in the ring, this class is for you! This class is also perfect for any dog whose owner just want their dog to FOCUS! We will practice reading and understanding dog communication, learn calming techniques, dog massage, and pattern games based on Leslie McDevitt’s Control Unleashed program. Let’s have some fun!
Super Skills™
This stand-alone class is a fun and fast moving focus on 3 specific agility skills to strengthen your agility game. 3 drills. 3 skills. 1 trial tip.
Tutes™
This single mini session will focus on 1 specific agility skill, such as front cross, memorizing courses, , or handing ring stress; etc.
COMPS™
Competition Practices
(by invitation only)
COMPS™ 1
COMPS 1 is a weekly competitive class/practice for beginner dogs and handlers. Weaves are not included in COMPS 1. Any team with basic agility skills is welcome and can participate upon invitation. The focus of COMPS 1 is on competitive agility. Each class includes fundamental drills and sequences which prepare beginner teams for success in the agility ring.
COMPS™ 2
COMPS 2 is a weekly competitive class/practice for intermediate dogs and handlers. Weaves are included in COMPS 2. Any team who is competing in agility and can consistently weave 12 weaves is welcome and can participate upon invitation. The focus of COMPS 2 is on competitive agility, including competition drills, sequences and courses to maximize your dog’s trial performance.
COMPS™ 3
COMPS 3 is a competitive class/practice for advanced dogs and handlers. All contacts, weaves and advanced sequences are included in COMPS 3. Teams who are running at the elite or superior level and have earned a NATCH, MACH, TACh; etc. are welcome to participate with upon invitation. The focus of COMPS 3 is on competitive agility, including competition drills, sequences and courses to maximize your dog’s trial performance and championships.
PRIVATE LESSONS
Private Lessons are available to help you and your dog with any issue you may be having inside or outside of the agility ring. You pick the skill and I pick the drill. Whether it is lack of focus, motivation, challenges with specific obstacles, collection or sequencing issues or trial competition concerns, we can help!
